I didn't wake up early enough today to get to the Botanical gardens to start the Blue Arrow walking route at a reasonable time- it takes 4-5 hours and didn't want to finish it when in the dark- so I did the Red arrow route instead, which is the one I did all those months ago when I went with Nomad's. Regardless of it only being 1.5 km, I had forgotten it was still pretty strenuous- there were quite a few steep steps.
Ever since going to Kewarra beach on Sunday I had been obsessing about 'The Ducks Nuts' - a takeaway shop that does really interesting sounding pizzas. Dane had picked up the leaflet whilst on a trip with his sister taking the baby for his check up, and there was a banana, maple and pecan dessert pizza and a savoury pizza with bacon, avocado, cashew, mozzarella and tandoori chicken I had wanted to try. I'm sure most people wouldn't bother taking the 55 minute bus ride to specifically try out a food place, but this is me we're talking about so I dragged Dane along, with the intentions of eating the pizza's and then sitting on the beach. Despite the fact that Dane had googled it on the way there, we still turned up and discovered it wasn't open on Tuesday's (we hadn't thought to check that out!) We still had quite a fun evening though, he showed me from the bus where his Dad lives, and where he met his best friend Isaac (In a concrete gutter, where they slid down when it was raining, and went body boarding down) and where Isaac's house was, where he stayed a lot as a child. We walked to Trinity beach, and got a satay chicken pizza from the place me, Alice and Bex went the other day, because the Duck's Nuts had a satay pizza on the menu too. To replace the banana pizza, I had a Black Espresso flavoured magnum, which I ate whilst watching 'Anh Does Britain' which was playing on a TV at the Beach Bar.
It was quite interesting to see what an Australian traveller does when he goes to Britain. He played a game of quidditch, played rugby, and went horse riding. It was funny when he went ballroom dancing because at the end he was teaching all the old couple's moves like 'pick the apples', 'pick the mushrooms' and 'do the lasso' so there were all these old men in their sequined waistcoats doing these moves. He also watched a punch and Judy show.
The bus we got back picked up a massive group of young people, who I assume were University Fresher's. They almost filled the bus up, and were being very loud and rowdy -singing songs like how we were when I started Uni. I felt very sorry for an old couple that got on after them, but then the woman was banging her hand on the bus wall along with them when they were singing 'you got mud on your face, you big disgrace, kicking your can all over the place'.
