10 Apr 2013
I walked to Harvey Norman's today after cleaning, which is a home store. When I first walked in it was all beds and furniture and so I felt like I'd got the complete wrong end of the stick in my search for cameras. Whilst talking to the guy at the camera desk, someone behind me said "Hello stranger". It was Dom Wood, who went to King Alfred's, and because I wasn't expecting it to be anyone from home, it took me ages to recognised him, despite the fact Bex had told me she had bumped into him at Cairns Central. The camera I was looking at was the last one, and so was being used as the display model, and so the guy offered me a discount on it, so I accidently brought it 12 days too early for my birthday. At least I can wrap it up and give it to myself though! I don't think much of this week's wage is going to be put into savings!
I then walked to DFO, the factory outlet shopping centre, stopping by in a crafts shop by Toys 'r' Us (where Bex works) to look at string that me, Bex and Alice can make friendship bracelets out of, to cheer me up after losing all my other ones when I lost my purse. Whilst there I was tempted to get a colouring by numbers pack to do when I next have a day off… This wasn't the first stupid thing I was tempted to buy! When I got to DFO, I noticed that Donut King had signs up saying they were giving away free coffee today, so treated myself to a cinnamon scroll with a flat white. I brought some flip-flops for $2, a top for $2, a skirt for $5 and 'splashed out' on some shorts at $20- I was getting sick of my backpacker wardrobe!
When I got back, me and Alice went to visit Korry, the receptionist for Alice's old hostel. She has bagged herself a private room at another one of Dave's hostels so we were going to go have a look but Dave was there and somehow knew we were planning on going round to the fire exit to get in, so we came back to Reef instead.
Alice went to the doctors again, who diagnosed her with a throat infection, as well as the conjunctivitis. He said that the steroid drops that the first doctor had given her would make the conjunctivitis worse!
