25 May 2013
Today, Brenton was lunch time manager, and because it was so dead, Fernando told me to close the doors at 2, which made Brenton shout at Fernando, which I got first row tickets to see because I was standing by the pass area, doing the cutlery.
Me and Alice got away nice and early from the evening shift, so Bex came and picked us up to take us to Edmonton for Barry and Goober's (Barry's sister's husbands) birthday barbeque. There was some gorgeous food, including a salad very similar to the 'Aussie Backyard salad' from work which had butternut squash, rocket, balsamic dressing, feta cheese, almonds, and Trish had made vegetarian curry, and stuffed a bloomer loaf with some cheesy, bacon and sweet corn filling. Her potato bake was nicer than Allen's and dare I say it, I think it was a better spread than Fernando's! Me and Alice gorged ourselves on the homemade sushi, and I felt very uncomfortably full, which is the end result of letting backpackers loose with nice food. At the end of the night we walked back to Trish and Grant's house (Barry's parents, where he also lives) which was very cold!
