21 May 2013
After I did the cleaning, me and Bex went, first to Coles, as it has cheap chicken, then Woollies, as it has cheap tobacco… this is the sort of thing I'd do (except it wouldn't be for tobacco) but for once this was actually Bex who wanted to do this. Whilst at Coles I picked up some more washing up liquid, and at Woollies I brought discounted cheesecake flavour yoghurt for 50 cents and a pack of three toothbrushes (its all clear now why Lucy is so excited she can read my blogs again). Bex brought a chocolate honeycomb and plain yoghurt Müller corner type thing, so with combined efforts we made a joke: "what did the Crunchie say to the Mars Bar?"… "Honey, I'm comb!". I tried to fill in my English tax return, but obviously wasn't as organised as I'd thought I'd been as I didn't write down the details when I was back in England. I went for a run on the esplanade early evening, and there were loads of storks/ pelicans which was attracting lots of photographers. I had a go on two of the exercise station apparatus; one which was supposed to be a cross trainer but you could tell the difference between that and a proper one you would get at a gym, and one which you swivelled your hips on, which was fun but didn't really seem to do much. As I was lying in bed (not going to sleep, as this was only about 7.30), I got a phone call from Emilie, who asked me if it was OK to come into work, as it was too busy for the amount of people there. However, when I got there it seemed to have died down a bit, so I was doing not very much but with quite high energy levels as it seemed like I should have been rushed off my feet. Chats said I could go home after 1 hour, which is fair enough as I wasn't rostered on to work tonight so it's not like I was expecting 2 hours. I got to have a steak sandwich, which sounds and looks really delicious in the photo in the menu, but was a bit of a disappointment. Tonight was Emilie, The Swede's last night working, although she is going to stay in Cairns for a few days so she can have a holiday.
