Getting up to checkout before 10 wasn't too pleasant after our night out, but we made it. Someone told Alice there was a phone shop near the out of town shopping centre, but it didn't turn out to be true. We picked up supplies anyway, and had some food and coffee from Hungry Jacks (so we could use the Wi-Fi, except it wouldn't work on my phone).

Ezzy had told us about 'Platypus Bush Camp' where it's likely to spot platypuses; we did manage to find it in the end, although their map on the leaflet wasn't very clear and it wasn't signposted. It's very 'at one with nature'- the showers have 3 walls, so you can overlook the forest (not the side with the footpath thankfully). Whilst Alice had a nap, I managed to become 'besties' with an 8 year old girl called Taniesha, who has been here for a couple of weeks with her mum whose cleaning for Wazza (the guy who owns the camp- I was a bit apprehensive about giving him our money at first because he was clutching at some beers and I thought he was just some random guy claiming our camping fee). Taniesha gave us a tour when we first arrived, showing us Rocky the cockatoo, and she showed me her shell collection. We pretended to be mermaids, using one of them like a mobile phone. Our mermaid personas have swum up the creek for a holiday to spot a platypus.

I've cooked our travel signature dish-mustard fried veg (last night it was onion and today, pak choi and mushroom) with rice, tahini and flavoured tuna (tonight I had Thai red curry, which wasn't as good as yesterdays sweet chilli), and then we went down to the platypus viewing pool, but didn't spot anything. The couple who were also there told us they had seen one in Eungella National Park, so maybe we'll try there if we don't see one tomorrow morning.

The showers are only hot in the evening, but there aren't any lights so me and Alice took it in turns to hold my iPhone up for each other.
