Christmas Day!! Hannah and I waited up until midnight last night so that we could see Christmas Day in and open our presents!! I was really happy to get some English magazines as I can't get these anywhere in Beijing. Went for a Macdonalds hot chocolate for breakfast and then for a wander around the shops. It was weird that everyone else was carrying on as if it was any other day. Finally bought a coat as I figure I will definately need one to go to Harbin, then went to the coffee bar we were introduced to the other night for a coffee. Once again there was no one in there - I have no idea how they keep going. Went to see Miss Cao before English corner to give her her Christmas presents - she was paticuarly pleased with the CD we had compiled with lots of English songs - then had English Corner - about 150 students turned up! I had loads of presents - sweets in a santa hat from Rex, a stamp from Cameron, a Chinese bride and groom from Helen and lots of apples wrapped up in decorative paper. Apples in Chinese sound like the same word as 'keep safe' and so a traditionally given as a gift. After this we went to meet Hannah's parents and went to the restaurant by the park for a big feast. Later in the night Hannah, Andrew (her brother) and myself went to Datang where we met up with Sophie.
