I seemed to be missing half the class for my lesson this morning - and no one could tell me where they were! Still, it quite nice working with 30 kids instead of 60 for a change! This afternoon, Mrs Wu (one of the Chinese English Teachers) asked me if class 2 could watch an English film about Helen Keller during my lesson as this had been one of their topics and they were very interested in seeing it. As I was bored of my lesson plan anyway, I thought they may as well. It was an interesting film about a girl who was deaf and blind but still managed to learn words, but the quality of the recording was terrible - if it had not been for the Chinese subtitles I don't think any of them would have know what was going on - I hope that the rest of their resources are better. This evening we had English corner where about 50 kids turned up. It is not working quite as expected - we wanted them to break into groups and practise talking, but instead they just want to hang around Hannah and I and listen and ask us questions. Still, I guess if they are happy and are practising their listening it is still good. Afterwards we went to try out a nice restaurant we had seen by the park using the excuse that we were celebrating Thanksgiving!! We thought it would be a good place for Christmas dinner and so of course we had to try it first - it was really nice although our food selections will need a bit of refining!
