Hannah's lessons were cancelled today for exams and so we decided to go into Beijing for some sightseeing. Dressed in as many clothes as we could find (it's got very cold here now) we set off for the Temple of Heaven and were pleasantly surprised to find when we arrived that it was like a summers day and we had to remove many of our layers! We had expected to spend about a couple of hours here, but it was so lovely that we ended up wandering around for 4 hours. We only left in the end because we wanted to do some shopping before going back to Huairou. We took the tube to Yashow Clothing Market as we both needed to get some winter clothes - when I came out here I was expecting to be in the south and only brought one jumper with me! Wandered around the market for an hour and bought some trousers and a hoodie. It's quite exhausting actually buying anything - you ask the price and then end up having to spend 20 minutes haggling with them to get it to something you are willing to pay - usually about one fifth of the original price they quoted you!! I can only buy one or two things each time I go as I get a bit annoyed at the process! We were running a bit late and so got a taxi to the bus station. We didn't get back until 9 so we went to food street for some bread and beans and a couple of beers.
