Got up early and headed into Beijing to do some shopping. I am suddenly realising how little time I have left here and have to do all the things I have been saying I will do 'later'. Went to the silk market first where I got carried away with the bags. I bought one and then they suddenly produced loads more from the 'special' section - these were hidden away in suitcases rather than being on display. Anyway, I found another that I wanted and was about to do a deal when one of the assistants snatched it away and walked off! Meanwhile the other assistant was still trying to agree a price with me. She reassured me that I was still bidding on the bag which had now disappeared and said that there was a really bad man. It was as if they were selling dodgy rip-offs, but that is the point of the whole market - it's all dodgy rip offs!!! Very confusing! Bought a Starbucks hoodie next and then headed to the bookstore after a starbucks latte. Came back for our lesson with the boys that went surprisingly well given the amount of prep we'd done.
