Got woken up this morning to the sound of firecrackers again. Everytime a new business opens here they 'announce' it by letting off fireworks and fire crackers for a couple of hours. The fireworks are a bit pointless as they normally do this at 7 or 8 in the morning when it is already light and you can't see them! I only have a couple of lessons today but I spent most of the time in school anyway starting to research the areas in China I want to visit when I finish teaching here. I will be travelling over the Chinese New Year and so I need to work out where I will be for that so that I can book my accomodation in advance - apparently it's even worse than Golden Week. I got a message this afternoon (via a whole chain of people) to go and see Mrs Lio who is the head of English for the whole school. She was in Canada for the first few weeks we were here and so I hadn't met her before. Anyway, when I found her she just wanted to give me a parcel which had arrived from my Gran. I tried to make conversation with her, but it was hard work - I was quite surprised she wasn't more chatty given we are effectively working for her department.
