Went for a wander this morning along the lake then we decided to hire a boat to take us for paddle around the large island in the middle. Bought a book about the history of the place which is known for the walking marriage's practised by the Mosu people. This is where women never marry or cohabit - instead they can choose as many lovers as they wish with the lovers arriving at night and then returning to their own homes in the morning!! Had lunch and then went to catch the bus for Xichang. There was obviously some mis-interpretation about the time of the bus and we ended up having to pay a taxi driver to catch up the bus as we had missed it!! Arrived in Xichang at 9:00 in the evening after another 8 hour bus journey and headed straight to the train station to try and get a train directly to Chengdu. Because of the holiday we couldn't get anything for 2 days and so went back to the bus station and checked into a hostel in ready to get tickets for the bus first thing in the morning.
