We finally got English Corner off the ground, but not without some last minute frustrations! Firstly, we had decided to run it from 4:30 on a Thursday because Grade 2 have a free period at this time. However, at the last minute, this got swapped around with one of their Friday lessons for this week, so no one could come along at 4:30 - except one boy who I think was skiving his lesson! Then, we went to the room and it was locked. One of the students took me to the office to get the key, and I was told I couldn't have it because it was going to be used for a meeting. So, we wandered around the school for half an hour until school was finished and we could gatecrash a classroom. All in all, it was still sucessful - despite us not being able to tell people where the new venue was, we still managed to get about 20 people along and a few others joined in just because they happened to be in the classroom. The idea was for them to talk to each other, but they were more interested in talking to us and finding out about life in England so we ended up in 2 large groups doing that - they didn't want to leave when we had to finish at 6:20. Went to get sweet potato afterwards from the downtown food street sellers and then had an early night.
