Next Wednesday to Friday are public holidays here and therefore in order to get a week off, the school decided to do Mondays lessons today and Tuedays lessons tomorrow so that we could then have Monday to Sunday off! However, I then got in today to be told the students were having Army training next week and therefore we weren't going to do lessons tomorrow. It seems a little bit unfair to me that the children lose their holiday at such short notice, but that seems to be the way it is here! The students seemed to be quite disruptive today (maybe in protest at loosing their holiday) and I had to remove a games board from one boy who seemed to think that after I had told him to put it away once it was okay to play it on the floor! I also seemed to lose about 6 students from one class - they all had excuses, but I'm not sure they were valid!! Between classes, I had to go to the Administrations department to tell them I am going away for the holiday. In China, the police like to track where you are at all times and therefore you have to tell them you are going away so that when you check into accomodation elsewhere they are expecting it. Anyway, I got there and of course no one spoke English so I ended having to go back to get one of the Chinese English teachers to come with me to translate.
