Korean school this morning which was a bit better than previous weeks but still not greeted by very enthusiatic students! Meet Hannah after she had finished teaching and we caught the bus into Beijing where we had arranged to meet Liz (one of the other interns) for lunch. We stopped off at the train on route to buy our train tickets for next week - Hannah is going to Shanyeng to see some of the other interns who have been placed there, and I am off sightseeing in Datong. Buying a ticket was surprisingly easy compared to previous attempts, and although we had allowed an hour to sort them out, there were no queues and the assistant spoke perfect English and so we were done in 10 minutes! I am a little concerned about my train as the ticket was only 46 yuan (4 pounds!) for a hard seat (they only had these or sleepers) and the journey is 6 hours long. Hannah had to pay 440 yuan for a 4 hours trip so I'm thinking she will have a little more luxury than me! Went to meet Liz and we headed for the curry house which I had been looking forward to all week however, we hadn't considered the possibility of them closing in the afternoons, and we arrived 10 minutes too late! Went to Fish Nation up the road instead and had proper fish and chips - it wasn't quite the same as the curry I'd been looking forward to, but still made a nice change from noodles! Came back about 7 and decided to go to Disco 9 as we hadn't been for a couple of week. We're so glad we did, as when we got there they had made a huge effort for halloween. The entrance was all decked out like a haunted house and you had to walk through this dark spooky area with things jumping out at you every so often. Then, once inside all the decorations were out and the whole show had a holloween theme - someone had obviously put a lot of thought into it. Stopped off at food street on the way back for some noodles and bread to warm us up.
