Day 156: 5/6/13
It seems to be harder to get out of the bed this week- I must already be tuned into holidays!!
I had the same 3/4 class again today anyway. They had no specialist so I was with them all day- they weren't too bad. In the morning we worked on the reading response they started yesterday. We were to do some word activities afterwards but the vice principal came in to speak to them about incidents that had been happening in the yard in the last while. They really go over the top talking about each others feelings, how they're coping, what to do when they feel angry with someone, etc. He was drilling in the fact that people won't like you if you are always mean, but if you learn from your mistakes and improve you'll have friends. After lunch we had some Maths. All the work was there so they just had to work on. A few of them wouldn't bother doing anything so I felt like I was battling with them the whole time. After Maths was Inquiry. They are doing a project on famous Australians so they used their laptops and iPads to look up information and type up a project. They have ages to do it so they weren't in any major rush. Some of them worked well but there's always the few that didn't bother working. The one hero from yesterday didn't do much at all today but he was slightly more respectful. After snack we read some of the Roald Dahl book Boy and then they had a teacher for Religion. So I had a chance to get all their work corrected and organised!
After work I went as quickly as I could to a bank near the train station to see if the bank manager would certify a copy of my passport for the super claim. It was no problem thankfully. In the bank there was something major going down. When I went in there was one police officer talking to a man at the back of the bank. Next thing, about five more of them came in and were all circled around this man. The woman at the counter seemed to be rivoted the scene. I would love to know what was going on but I was dealt with too quickly!
I'd to try to make the post office then by 5 to get a box to post stuff home in. I don't need a very big box but the smaller ones seemed too small so I got one the same size as I had at Christmas. It definitely won't be filled this time though!
Then, I had to try to figure out what my membership number of my super accounts was. I realised that I had sent the super letters from the account in Queensland back to Ireland as I thought I wouldn't be claiming it until after I left. It can't be paid until your visa runs out, but it can be claimed before its paid, which I didn't know when I sent the stuff to Ireland! I found a number for the and rang them and they were able to give me all my details. I had never gotten any letter about my super for the teaching here in Melbourne so I rang the agency and they said they are just going to pay it in this week so my account hasn't exactly been set up yet. So Ill try to full out all the forms and hopefully when I get the number I can just send it on to the woman to put through. I have to go back to her on Friday anyway to try to sort it out.
I went to the coffee shop then to do stuff on the laptop using the good wifi. But, for some reason it wouldn't connect. I stayed there a while but then came back to the hostel to use the Internet. I'd to email the book list for next year to Annmarie and do a few other bits. It's all busy busy this evening!! I did get time to watch a programme on the laptop for a while and then I'd to spend over a half an hour writing all this!!
