Day 86: 27/3/13
This morning I got up early enough and packed most of my bags. I have so much clothes!! I'm gonna leave a few things in Laura's house and collect them another time as I just can't bring everything this evening!
At training this morning they were telling us not to give the customer I chance to say no, to keep telling them what's going to happen and that all the information is in the welcome pack. They still have plenty of time to say no and cancel after they've started filling the contract. So today my plan was to try that. I'd been sort of waiting for them to say yes rather than assuming they would sign and telling them what was going to happen. They had told us that there's no harm in filling out the contract and then the customer saying no. Just bring extra contracts!
My target from Chloe today was 3- I was going to be happy with 2! I got off to a good start though as I met people who aren't usually home on a week day and weren't fed up of door knockers! I got a woman from New Zealand signed up- she went through all her rates and was happy that they were better. Then a few doors down I got a man who was on high rates with AGL, even though he only had a gas bill! He was happy to change as he said he'd been thinking of changing anyway. Then I got a couple who were home with their brand new baby. I had to go away and come back to these as the woman was breast feeding and it was her name on the bill! Their bill had been cray dear and this was definitely going to make it cheaper. Mentioning early that nothing is processed for 10 days and they will be left with the welcome pack, definitely seemed to work!
All of those 3 sales I got before 2. Chloe was very excited as she never got 3 by 2! She was telling me to go for my pb now of 4 and I was all set for it as I had 4 hours to get it! For the next two hours though I barely got any contacts. Then from 4 I did get some more but they didn't want to sign. Some had signed with others before and hadn't gotten what they were supposed to. Others were going away and wouldn't be able to look it up over the 10 days. So I didn't get my 4th!!
In the morning I was only hoping to get 2 and by 6:30 I was disappointed I didn't get 4!! It doesn't make sense!! Chloe said when you're trying really hard to get your pb, you never get it!! Anyway, 3 a day would be mighty!! I'll have to try to get it again tomorrow!
I was home early enough this evening somehow, even though were in the same place as yesterday! I had a cup of tea and chatted to Laura and Jamie before I headed off to the hostel. The rucksack is fecking heavy to be carrying up the stairs at the train station!! I had to get a train first and then a tram, but it didn't take too long.
The hostel seems nice. It's really big and has a bar, a kitchen, a cafe and a really big area with couches and tables. The reception is open 24 hours aswell. The wifi only works properly downstairs so it means people have to get out of their rooms! The room is grand. It's a 16 bed room but there's plenty of space for everyone and there's loads of showers and toilets just next door. The only bad thing is I have a top bunk. I was expecting that to happen when I was checking in so late! Hopefully I'll be able to swap to a bottom when someone else checks out. Apart from that its fine.
I went to get something to eat and then had a quick chat to Mam on the phone. I've to go to bed now as I'm wrecked after getting up early to pack and dragging the rucksack around! It was really hot yesterday and today which is tiring too, but tomorrow it's supposed to cool down and rain. Hopefully it won't rain too much while we're knocking!
