Day 125: 5/5/13
I'd a lovely long sleep in this morning- it's great when you don't have to set an alarm! I woke a few times but I didn't get up until about 12.
I had gotten a text during the night that Galway won the u21 so when I woke I looked up hogan stand and a few websites to see how it went! It sounded like Galway were clearly the better team but Cork still tested them in the end. Four corofin lads is great! Alan must be thrilled. Emma had a really good photo up of him hugging Alan Mullholland- really shows the good side of gaa events!! Fair play to him- I'm sure he worked awful hard to get them there!
I went down the town to have some breakfast/lunch. Nearby there was a Columbia shop- (is that the name?? U know the hiking/travel shop??) with 70% off. So I went in for a look and ended up getting some walking/hiking shoes. I'll need good walking shoes for Asia and the runners I brought with me are pretty worn and they absolutely stink because I lived in them in all my travels so far!! So I thought these were pretty good- 180 down to 60. They're more runners than hiking shoes but they have pretty good grip on them for any walks or anything well have!
After that I bought a few bits and pieces for lunch during the week and went to Victoria market where I got some vegetables for dinner - all for $3! It's a crazy place on a Sunday afternoon as they are selling off piles if veg for a dollar!!
I got paid on Friday for 4 days work. I thought Id get about 60 more than I did so obviously the tax is a little higher than I expected, even though I was missing an hour one morning, so maybe that made a big difference. Anyway, the money is nearly gone because I paid for two weeks of accommodation, the Vietnam visa, some clothes on Friday and I are out a few evenings this week knowing that I'd be getting paid!! So I'll majorly have to calm down the next few weeks if I want to do any day trips at all on the east coast!!!!
I dossed around in the room for a while sorting out clothes and on the laptop and then I went to Laura's to do some more ironing. She wasn't feeling well an had a sore throat but told me to iron away. Hopefully she'll feel better so as you have to be able to talk for teaching! I chatted to her while I was ironing but didn't wait too long so that she could get to bed soon. Both of us will be up waiting for calls in the morning, so we better got some work!!
I went back to the hostel then and started looking up where I want to go on the East Coast. I just read the lonely planet that I have and decided where I want to go so that I can starting figuring out how and when ill be able to get to each place. Lots of homework to do! I didn't Skype home cos its a bank holiday and I can get them tomorrow evening- that way I can hear about the whole weekend in the Cooley mountains in one go!
