Day 98: 8/4/13
Today we didn't have to be a work until 10:45. We weren't sure if we would get out selling or not. When we got in first they went over a few things with us and we had to sign contracts to say we we responsible for the ipad. We didn't have to sign anything for a period of time or anything so it's grand.
The uniforms arrived today and as they stupidly hadnt asked anyone their sizes it didn't work out great. A lot of the lads are the same size so after the first few took theirs there was nothing left for the other lads. The girls only went to a 16 and there were a few girls that would have liked better. The trousers fitted but we can wear our own black trousers instead. The shirt only fits if its left open but there are a few people doing the same. If they had asked our sizes before hand there wouldn't have been a problem!
We eventually got out to turf anyway, still not really knowing how to make a sale. We were practicing in the van but you can't really practice fully as a sale would be processed!
I knocked the doors anyway and people just weren't interested. A lot had just changed over recently and wanted to stay with the new crowd a while longer. Some people were in contracts and I would have said previously that we give them $50 to cover their exit fee, but now we don't so I have to learn all new answers! I got some bills but didn't sell anything. A few in the van got one, some of us got none.
We have to go back to the office now every evening as the iPads have to be brought back for charging and our shirts have to be left back. So it makes the day even longer!
When I got back to the hostel I had some food and then was chatting to Andrea, one of the German girls in the room. She was an aupair in America for a year and put up an ad on gumtree for aupair work here and she's had lots of offers! So she was trying to decide which one shed like best. There isn't great money in it- only about $300 a week, but you have no expenses really as you live and eat there with the family.
