Day 137: 17/4/13
I decided to try a later train this morning. I got up only a few minutes later but had a bit more time to check the Internet and eat breakfast! When I checked my emails, Eimhin had sent on the poem- here it is:
To Lorraine.
Thanks so much for picking up,
We know that we have rode our luck,
Not everyone would care enough,
To teach us all this Ozzy stuff,
We know you probably miss it here,
But honestly, don’t shed a tear,
It’s the middle of May and we’re wearing coats,
Sniffling and sneezing with tickly throats,
We’ve been studying all sorts of nasty creatures,
Deserts and reefs and artistic features,
We’d love to take a trip down under,
From all we’ve seen it looks a wonder,
So enjoy Australia and have a ball,
And thanks again for taking our call,
Your school must be sad you decided to roam,
And we bet they can’t wait ‘til you arrive home!
Isn't it mighty! I wouldn't be able to write that in a millio years, not to mind write it while on to! Thanks Eimh- I'm well impressed!!
In school we did the reading groups, then they had a spelling test and then we went to the library for them to go on the computers. They went on a website about recycling and sorting trash. After lunch we were supposed to do Maths with the class next door but that teacher changed her mind so I got time to show them some pictures and information about Ireland and going to school in Ireland. None of them wanted to go to an Irish school!! Then they did some handwriting and spelling and of course show and tell, which they do every day. After lunch they had CRE. An ancient woman came in to tell stories about Jesus. I just had to be there and try to get them to behave! Then we had assembly- another doss of a day! There were a few kids that couldn't settle at all in assembly, one was crawling under my chair and pulling at my clothes! I don't know what they are normally like but they hadnt been like this all week, whatever came over them! They gave out all the student of the week awards and then I got presented with the teacher of the week! I got it for minding the class so well while the teacher was out! That made them a bit hyper!! Then they got picked as the lucky class which means they get some kind of a treat next week- so they got even more hyper!! Eventually it ended and they went home anyway!! They told me the teacher is coming back Monday so I don't know where Im going to be.
I rang the agency after school and of course they couldn't tell me where I might be on Monday so I'll just have to wait for the call again. Then I tried to ring the post office to see where my letter was. I spent at least 20 minutes on hold and then I had to give up! I managed to get a slightly earlier train so I tried to make the post office that was mentioned on the tracking as it doesn't open on Saturdays. I went in the door at 5 on the dot! They closed the door behind me! They had the letter there with the passport and everything in it so I got it! She didn't know why they hadnt attempted to deliver it but she gave it to me without the card you usually need to collect it. It has the visa, so that's the main thing!
I went to Melbourne central then and had some food and then watched the movie The Call which was fairly good. I just went to bed then when I got back.
