Day 147: 27/5/13
I got my earliest call yet this morning at 6:33. I'd say they were just in the office!! It was for the school I was in a few days last week that's fairly close so I'd loads of time on my hands this morning! I told them on Friday that if work came up there that I'd like to be there and they said they'd make a more of it. I don't know if they paid heed to me or if it was just a coincidence! I get home by 4:30 when I go there and I save a fiver a day on trains! So I was well happy that they sent me there!
I had a prep class today. It was the first time that I had a class all day at this school- I usually do teacher release. They were a good enough class. Some weren't too interested in working but of I didn't worry about pushing them too much they were happy enough!! I was happy to just keep them ticking over! They had investigations first. All the prep classes mix for this and its just play time really. There was a painting station, a collage station, some writing stations, some construction stations and a post office! They have lots of fun at that! Afterwards they wrote about their weekend. I got them to write one sentence and draw a picture and then some of them wrote more if they could. After lunch we had Maths. They played bingo in pairs first and then drew their favourite fruit so we could create a chart on the board. They were supposed to have Chinese then but it was cancelled for some reason. I read them a book from the library and then got them to draw a picture for the beginning, middle and end of the story. I don't think the teacher will be able to figure out what the story was about from their pictures but they did try!!
After break then they read to a partner, changed their reader and brainstormed words beginning with u. We didn't have too many words! So I played the tin whistle and got them to sing a little of Ratlin bog while we were waiting for the bell to go! It was a pretty easy day by all accounts!! There's no way an infant teacher would get away with that kind of a day!
I went to the cinema in the evening and watched Hangover 3 which was funny enough. I didn't do much else- just dossed around for the evening on the laptop. It was late enough by the time I got to sleep last night so I'll head to bed early tonight!
