Day 123: 3/5/13
I'd the same school again today with Preps- not the class I had Wednesday, the one next door. The teacher had work left and had explained it to me the evening before. She said it would take ages to do everything so they'd have loads to do. I was wondering as she really only left English and Maths for a whole days work! She was right though!
I the morning we spent the whole first two hours concentrating on the letter of the week. We read a little book with t words and then they split up into two groups- one group worked with an aide on worksheets they had started during the week. The other worked on the carpet with me with flash cards of words from the book. We made sentences, tried writing the words and then played memory. We somehow got two hours work out of that as everything is so relaxed over here!!
After break we read a big book about things a monster could do and then they drew and wrote what their monster could do. Then they had Maths and we discussed things that will/won't/might happen. They had pictures that they ha to choose the correct word for and colour in. All that was very relaxed too!
The timetable after Maths was ridiculous- rest, show and tell, assembly. I literally had to put on some music, turn off the lights and let them rest. Then we had four or five people who's turn it was to do show and tell. Then off we went to assembly and that was it for the day!! It was the most relaxed day ever and the kids were fairly well behaved!!
The Irish girl was there again today and we got the train together after school. We swapped numbers so I might be able to meet up with her and her friends sometime. She thought she was back in the school Monday but the school said no. So she rang the agency and they said they had been mistaken. The school told me I was there Monday. When we were on the train I saw a message that the agency had sent me in the morning to confirm that I would work Monday. I thought Id rainy back in a little while as she would soon be getting off and I thought it would be rude to go ringing while we were talking. Then she got a phone call from the agency asking her to go back to the school Monday. When I rang the agency back they told me they'd given the day away, so obviously she got it! I was raging!! I rang back an hour later to see if they had something else for me for Monday but I didn't know they close early on Fridays. So now I don't know where I am Monday!!! It's annoying! They had sent me the message at 10am but I didn't look at my phone until after school, after 4 I'd say and they rang her at twenty past! They advise us not to be on our phones but then expect us to see these messages! They didn't even ring me! They better have work for me on Monday!!!
I did a little shopping this evening as I needed another top and trousers and some socks. When I came back to the hostel I had to extend my stay, do a wash, print the application form for the Vietnam visa- boring things like that!
I was talking to the Estonian girl for a good while aswell- she has nose issues too so we were talking about different foods and the weather difference and stuff!!
