Day 68: 9/2/13
Cliona's party is on today- hope ye all have a great night! It's also Mikes birthday- enjoy turning 25 Mike!
I was delighted when I woke up this morning as it was twenty past 11 and it was the first night in ages that I'd slept right through.
We got up slowly and took our time getting ready. We went into town and had lunch in a lovely Irish bar called PJ O Briens. The people working there were actually Irish and it looked like a proper Irish pub. The food was gorgeous too. I had an Irish stew which I never usually order but it spoke to me on the menu! It was very different- the soup was like a potato soup- real thick and creamy, it was gorgeous!
There's a festival on along the river where there are different watersport competitions like water skiing and wake boarding and stuff. We only saw a bit of that as we just missed one competition and it was a while before the next one would start. We walked around though and looked at the carnival stands and hurdy gurdys and stuff. If you had a child it would cost you a fortune as it was $10 for nearly everything! All the rides were around $10 and all the game things that you can win teddy bears were aswell!! I'd say you'd need at least $100 per child!!
We watched guys on scooters aswell going up and down ramps in a skate park. It was cool. They were doing all sorts of flips and jumps and spinning the scooter and everything!
We were parched with the thirst at that stage so we went to Fed square for a drink and a dessert. It's really hot here at the moment, about 35, so we were downing the water!
We went back to Laura's house then. We weren't long back when Mam, Dad and Noreen skyped. We had plenty of chat about everything that's gone on the last few days. I had only sat down after that call and Shell was skyping- first call from the Cooley mountains!! She was busy doing a few jobs and getting herself organised for going down for Clionas birthday so she was carrying the laptop around the house with her! I also got the view out the window of Sean in the tractor delivering bales somewhere! Ill be able to chat to her a lot more now that she's connected to the Internet!
We watched Frankenweenie them, a weird animation film that seemed too creepy for kids!
After that I finally caught up on the blogs- it took at least an hour!!
I noticed today that its 20 weeks until I fly home (yipee!!) and 40 weeks until I turn 30- uh oh!!
