Day 128: 8/5/13
So today it was a Grade 1 class in the same school as Monday. There was a student teacher in there observing but he wasn't much good to me as he didn't know where anything was and he was really sick- coughing and choking most of the day!
The class were okay but one of those classes that follow their routine to the letter which is really annoying as a sub as they go mad when you do something different and spend the whole day telling you your wrong!
We had sharing time about 3-d shapes they found at home first, then reading groups and then writing. They had read a big book about a farmer so they had to write an acrostic poem about a farmer which wasn't the easiest word to do one with! Some of them were pretty good!
After break some people went out for religion and the people that weren't going played a Maths game that they usually play at that time. Afterwards we had maths where they had to make their own ruler using an informal measurement like unification cubes and then they had to measure certain things in the room. They were fairly good for it, but it was pretty busy!
After lunch my class had music so I relieved a teacher in another grade 1 class who were learning how to count on. They seemed to know exactly what to do and it was pretty easy for them but there was one little wagon who wouldn't pay attention and knocked over the container of counters and then knocked over someone's water on the sheets they were supposed to do!! I was glad to get back to my class!!
We did some work on nouns when they got back. They watched a YouTube video which was a song about nouns and then they had to list some for person, place and thing. They were pretty good. I let them go home at the end of the day and they all started coming back into class. It seems they pack up and then come back in to clean the classroom. But we were already late so I scooted them out again!! It's so annoying with subbing that every single class has a different routine!!
I checked my phone after school and I had a text to work in yesterday's school with year 5/6. I rang back as soon as I saw it to confirm- I won't get caught again! The 5/6's are pretty lively so it should be an interesting day!!
I didn't feel great when I woke up this morning. My head was a bit stuffed up. There are bugs going around so I don't want one!! I can't afford to get one!! The student in the class was sick too so I hope he didn't give it to me! I was okay in school- just crosser than normal!! So I had some lemsip this evening and I'm heading to bed early!
Mam rang when I was heading to bed- on a day off no less! No news on either side!
