Day 80: 21/3/13
This morning I was at the tram stop at the same time as every other morning, big of was about 10 minutes late. Then the traffic was really bad so I ended up being about 20 minutes late. I had texted Chloe anyway and people don't seem to mind. The 'training' in the morning is a waste of time anyway! We have to practice our pitch and out objection handling most days. They rarely tell us ways to improve- we're just put into pairs or groups to practice, saying the same thing we have every other day. Then they play stupid games like wheelbarrow races, jumping up and down, running back and over- its supposed to get you in the right frame of mind or something! I'm not so sure.
We had a new area again today, which means we have to sort out he welcome packs and the contract sheets again, as different areas have different rates because they have different distributors. We went to Frankston today which is where Sherry is from. She happened to get her own street so they took it off her incase she went home. They were telling her to contact any friends r anything and if she got 5 she could go home.
They had no maps for the area but we did have walk sheets. We had to get them off another team though so we were late out. They seem to be awfully disorganised this week for some reason!
I only had a few streets. I got one signed early enough in the day. He hadnt wanted to get the bill at all and then changed his mind altogether an decided to sign up! By 3 I had all the streets walked and was going back to the start to knock the doors that weren't home. I met a Scottish guy who is in one of the other teams. He had the street perpendicular to mine. While we were talking an American who is on a third team came along and he had been given that street aswell. So, a lot of confusion! I was chatting to them for a while which broke up the day nicely. I think we should walk the whole area from 12, take a break at 3 and then rewalk it at 4. I think it would be easier for everyone and would wake everyone up again if we all met up, but I suppose we are too far apart.
On my rewalk I got another customer. Only her gas went through though and the electricity came up as do not quote, which means Chloe will have to sort it out tomorrow. I went back to another house then that the woman had said her partner would be home later. He wasn't home but she decided to sign up anyway. Theirs came up as a DNQ aswell- so Chloe will have to fix that up aswell. They have only just moved to the house so I think that's why.
So I would have had three today if they had worked! I was down for 2 sales and 3 accoubts as I had the full sale in the morning and then the gas only with the second customer. Hopefully Chloe will fix them both up tomorrow and they'll be my sales aswell!
The team only got 10 sales today. Matty had quit last night and then Kevin didn't turn up today. It was Sherrys last day too although Chloe didn't know it. She only got two sales so they didn't say she could go home. I don't think she asked either. They drove us all in to the city and she was going to have to turn around and get on a train going back out where we had just come from! It was ridiculous. When she was getting off the new girl asked why she hadn't just gotten off in Frankston and Chloe answered that she had only gotten 2 sales. So it doesn't sound like they would have let her go home, even if she had asked, which is ridiculous. If you hand in your sales at 6:30 it shouldn't matter what you do after that. Anyway, she was not a happy camper!
I had some food and watched tv for a while and then was planning on looking up accommodation again. I had taken down some phone numbers this morning and rang during the day and the rooms were gone or they wanted someone for 6 months. Laura was trying to fill her form about the panel and stuff so I helped her with that instead. I'll have to look up accommodation again tomorrow. I don't know why they have rooms advertised that are gone!
