Day 141: 21/5/13
Today I'd another long wait for a call. It was twenty five past seven when they called. It was for the same school as yesterday which was good. So, again, I wasn't in a rush gettin there. But, if they had told me yesterday I could have slept in!!
Today was teacher release again. I was with a 3/4 class for the first two hours. Their teacher had been out yesterday so there wasn't really a plan of action. The teacher next door had some release time too so there was going to be a CRT in her room aswell, so she just gave me the same things to do as her class were going to do. They had to do a portrait about a character in a poem they had read. They were fine for that but fairly noisy. Afterwards they worked in Maths groups. Again they were fine. I was working with a group trying to get used to using a number line. They were a little noisy though and there are three other classes in the area so its noisy in general!
After lunch I was with a 1/2 class who were doing some spelling and looking for words with a dr and tr pattern in their library books. There were a few cheeky lads but the teacher was saying they were having a particularly bad day today! Then I had a 3/4 class who were working on the portrait that the other class had done in the morning. They were grand. Finally, after being on yard duty with loads of people arguing I was with a 5/6 class. They are going to do a book club in a few weeks so they were practicing their roles for the groups. They didn't really get it or they couldn't be bothered, one or the other! There were four different groups, each working on a different text, looking for literacy devices (nouns, adjectives, quotations, etc). To explain it properly they all needed to be on the same text. They'll have some fun trying to do it when they go into their book club groups next week!! The teacher next door had said hers weren't that settled either as they had had specialist all day yesterday and weren't used to doing a full days work.
I got a text when I was just off the train to work in the same school again tomorrow, so that's good.
I went to a travel doctor on the way home to see about malaria tablets. They wouldn't tell me how much Id news or anything without booking in to see a doctor and they only have one appointment in the evening next thurs- even that one will be tight to get to after school. If I'm in a school like last week I definitely won't make it. So I'll have to try to see if I can get tablets some other way.
I did very little this evening- read, watched part of a DVD on the laptop that was crap, painted my nails and then got them all smudged so took it off again! Nothing very exciting!!
