Day 153: 2/6/13
Today I slept in for a little while. Some mornings it's hard to sleep in in the hostel room! I went down for breakfast and came back up to go to bed for a while. I couldn't sleep so I just got up! Shane rang then. He'd no news really but was in good form. He's a hurling match today. After that I rang Mike as I had been chatting to him yesterday morning when his boss came along and he'd to get off the phone quickly! He's no major news either!
There were two girls asleep while I was on the phone. One of them had woken and given me a dirty luck but I didn't care! Other people wake me all the time! Someone from reception came up then as they were supposed to have checked out by 10! So they had to gather their things and get out quickly!
I went back to the Museum then today as I wanted to look in the shop at some books. They had a big selection of children's books and I wanted to get one or two for teaching. I wanted one with all the animals in it but there were only really babyish ones so I got one of Aboriginal stories. It shows the Aboriginal art and many stories are about the animals so it'll do!
Afterwards I walked through the Carlton gardens and took some photos of the exhibition centre and then I walked towards Federation Square and took some photos of buildings and trams and things like that. There were market stalls just near the art gallery which I wandered around for a while and there was a jazz band playing there. You never know what you're going to find round the corner in Melbourne! I walked along Southbank then, looking at the street performs- some musicians were there today and an escape artist. I went to the Irish pub for some Irish stew then!! I saw lots of Irish heads in for the roast dinner.
When I came back to the hostel I had to try to see what things I might send home. I seem to have an awful lot of stuff!! I don't know how I'll bring it all in the rucksack again!! I've decided now which things I'll send home and I'll bring them over to Laura tomorrow to see if she has room for a few things. I have a few bits and pieces to give her aswell that I won't be bringing with me. I have a lot of clothes then that I think will have to get dumped. The clothes I brought to South America were all brought because I didn't care if they ended up dumped. But, at the same time there's nothing wrong with the clothes!! I'm goin to find packing very difficult next weekend!!
I Skyped home then and was chatting to Mam, Dad and Margaret. They were after processing around Corofin for the Corpus Christi procession!! None of us had any news really, but we had a good chat about football, Turloughmore relations, travelling, etc!
