On the way to work, the train driver made an announcement that Melbourne Central Station was closed due to flooding and then finished off by saying he hoped we had a good day in the best city in the world, and to enjoy the rest of our week. This isn't the first time public transport drivers have made nice announcements- a tram driver also wished his passengers a nice day the other day.
I made my way to Chapel Street to collect my pay, and Julia and Eamah were just about to have their dinner break so I sat down with them and chatted, and ate more of Julia's calamari than she did.
I was supposed to meet Amanda and her work friends at her work at 6, but got instead o getting the tram which I thought would get stuck in rush hour, I caught the train to Richmond, not knowing that Richmond station was a 25 minute walk away from her cafe. I found the cafe, but misunderstood Amanda because I thought I was meeting her at the beauty salon whose opening we were going to, which I thought was along Bridge road. I called her and then she said it was Lennox Street so I walked up and down there, until eventually getting there a bit flustered and hot from walking quickly on a sunny day in my disco pants. We got champagne and wine, and watched some of the models showing off their new hairstyles. We got goody bags that had samples of shampoo and conditioner in, and some vouchers for nearby stores.
I left to go meet Zac in town so that we could go to the rooftop cinema to watch a Stone Roses film; another Melbourne Music Week event. We got there just in time for the film to start, although it was really busy so we had to sit on the floor. After watching it, I've become a bit of a fan of both rooftop cinema screenings and Stone Roses.
