Today I had my first shift on my own at Hooked. I got there pretty early, since with 3 changes of public transport, there's a lot of room for lateness, and so wanted to make sure I got there on time, but I definitely needed the extra time! I didn't realise how long it would take to do everything before opening and so I didn't plan which things took higher priority over others very well, and so felt a bit flustered as it was getting nearer to 11.30 (opening time) with things like counting the till (which was $2 under what it should have been from last night). I think the fact that I put away the drinks for Vicky as she had done her back in and couldn't do it yesterday didn't help either. I ended up doing a few jobs after I finished just so I got more of the cleaning tasks for the day done, but I didn't mind. I tried a fish burrito, along with some calamari and super food salad.
I just about had enough time to get back home and get changed, before going to Sienna. Joey was the manager tonight, and was an a*******, as ever. For example, he had told me to quicken things up a bit as I should be able to manage the tables that were there at the time by myself (which I thought I had been, unless he wanted me to suddenly stop serving one table to give water and menus to new arrivals), so later on he said I was being very speedy, which would have been nice to hear if he hadn't have ended it with saying 'What's happened', basically saying that I was being really slow before. When I went to get my tips, I discovered I didn't have a pile, and it turned out that it was because Joey hadn't written me down on the list. I don't get why he particularly has a problem with me, because he seems to really like the two Swedish girls. He gave me his tips anyway, which he doesn't really need because Julia told me he has quite a lot of money and had a bar tab the other night when they went out with him.
