Another brilliant trip to Aiome. The plane took off as soon as we arrived at the airport, that's a first! Brand new engine well maybe not that new [if you remember the engine had failed and the engine had to be repaired and we were the first flight after the repair]. Not long though we hit amazing clouds like huge cotton wool balls and you couldn't see through it. We had another volunteer with us who is an IT expert so it was a bit disappointing for him not to be able to see anything. It was obvious to us that the pilot couldn't find the Aiome airstrip as he circled around and we thought he was going to head back to Madang when he spotted a gap and we flew in.
The Headteacher met us and we discovered that our usual host was away as Sandra's brother had died. So a quick tidy up and we moved into the Head's house. Lovely family, brilliant kaikai [food] all eaten in the win haus [wind house which is a locally built room in the garden.
John worked on the computers, yes the most isolated school has about 10 computers and a very keen teacher. Ken and I worked on the afternoon's training which carried on into an evening session.
The flight home was clear so loads of pictures which I forgot to download! At the air strip we saw Drake [Deputy] our usual host. When his baby son saw me he held out his arms to be carried!!! He is the same age as Gary's baby son [11 months].
