Yesterday's experience!!
Yesterday was the much anticipated day for sailing Tikitubu Seajay 2 back to Madang.
We had a rather strong downpour at 7am which didn't auger well. But by 9am it had gone. So we left for the New Tribes Mission compound on the local bus [PMV]. We need a 17 A,B C or D. but nothing and then a 6B stopped. No we said wrong route but they said they were being helpful and would take us. I cannot believe that we got in!!!
Drove along and then I realised that they were going to pick up their women folk to take to a local market. When they got out we decided to say we'd stop at the school stop BUT being helpful they wanted to take us up to the school! The driver was HIGH on something But we paid the correct amount, I told the conductor what it was and we caught the correct bus on!!
At Ruth and Andrew's the tide was so low. It didn't rise for ages. In the meantime the two fellows spent time trying to transfer money between here and the States. Didn't work!!! Hours spent trying and calls made to UK!
Then we decide at 3pm to repaint our boat!!! Bonkers really but the paint dried almost as we painted so now Seajay 2 is red and yellow!
We finally got the two boats floating at 4:45pm. The weather was changing! Our engine failed so Andrew jumped in and Ruth left alone decided to start their engine and OFF she went!!! We finally caught up and got her to stop and Andrew got into their boat and off we went. Across the sea to Madang for 30 minutes. Very choppy but Ken did well although using a different style of stearing from Seajay 1 in UK. Arrived at the Club but Andrew was where we were had been told to moor and we made a wonderful entrance with Ken hitting Andrew's boat and having to circle round whilst Club members sat watching from the verandah!!! We MADE an entrance!
Now she's here we can enjoy trips out. Then we get our car in a few weeks time we'll be more mobile, not that we aren't now.
