Hi all. just some photos for you to see. We've started with our Hotel and then will go on to our trip to stay in a village.
The door picture is for our room. The path goes down from Reception to the Restaurant and Bar. In one picture you can see one of our VSO colleagues, Moses who is from Uganda. The views are spectacular and sharks, whales, dolphins and flying fish can be seen and octopus and squid caught off the sea edge!
Food is very good. We have to choose from the VSO menu which is so funny as we begin to talk of B1 or B2 etc! Breakfast is fruit, toast, coffee etc or cerals, eggs, scrambled or poached or sausage and beans so we go half and half with me having the bits of fruit I like and Ken the rest! Then we share the egg plate!! Fruit consists of pineapple, pawpaw and strawberries [mine!] and passion fruit and lychees all as they come from the trees!
Last night Ken and I walked from the VSO office to another Hotel for dinner and a lovely bottle of Chardonnay! We so enjoyed it and then the Hotel took us home for free, there are no taxis.
So hardship all the way here! We now know that we are staying in the Hotel until the end of April when we will move to a small compound next door which still belongs to the Hotel but is an apartment with two bedrooms. We are told it has a sea view from the verandah! We can still use the pool which although sall is large enough to swim and there is a hotspot so we can use the internet at home.
Since being here we have been taken to a Chinese restaurant, all of the VSO staff came and to the restaurant where we ate last night. Lunch was lovely as well. Whilst here a family were eating and when they went to leave they asked if we were VSO and asked me if I was Mrs Jones!! They knew missionary friends from Ken's home town who he knows well! Next will be contact with Rotary.
Back to lessons1 Tok Pisin is.going well.
So love to you all.
Ken and Una
