Sunday last 3 May
Had one of those good days that you'll remember always. Went to Chapel and took some photos, will add later. The lady sitting next to me commented, in beautiful English that she would love to have her photo taken. I offered and she asked if I could take it when she is looking after her stall in the market so I agreed.Monday had to go to market so took camera and she wasn't there! Oh well another time.
In the afternoon had been invited by a lady who works a couple of evenings in the restaurant as a manager, to go to her home and show her girls how to wire up flowers! Chance conversation led me to tell her I had been a florist a few days previously.
So she picked me up and I had a lovely time with the girls, aged 17 to toddlers all sitting on the ground wiring up flowers and leaves and me making a wedding bouquet to show them! Maureen grows orchids so the setting was rather lovely. It is also very unusual to be invited to a person's home and if you are it's only to go as far as the verandah. More on cultural things later!!! So I was very, very privileged. The oldest girl reminded me of Rebekah, from her looks, smile, posture etc. The littlest asked Maureen if Mama was going to sleep that night with them!!!
Maureen's girls are all children belonging to cousins, sisters etc who live in Port Moresby which has become a rather unsafe place and so she looks after them all. I counted 8 girls but then she mentioned that 3 girls and 4 boys were at the University open day!!!!
