Our first full week of induction is nearly over and we are off for the weekend to a village to help us to understand the culture. It has been arranged that we travel by boat rather than road. Off very shortly.

Our Tok Pisin lessons have gone better than we anticipated and we are to use it this weekend! As such "old" people we'll be known as Bubu Man [Ken] and Bubu Meri [Una]! More about our village when we return along with some pictures.

Our accommodation is great and it has been like being on holiday this last week! Our room is large and air conditioned AND with hot water showers and a fridge! So real hardship! We'll be staying there next week as well and then until April we are moving to another room in the same hotel which will be more private and have cooking facilities so we can be self reliant if we want to be. Oh forgot to mention that there is a small swimming pool which overlooks the sea!

So in April we have been told that we will move next door in an apartment still linked to the hotel, which has two bedrooms and a sea view and a place to drive a car in under the apartment should we buy a car.

So far we have been shopping in the market which a lovely and clean and has everything you could ossibly want even strawberries! Supermarkets are well stocked, clean and friendly. Walking around is fine, no hassle just friendly greetings from all.
