Another week, more adventures to tell you about! First, we'll start with Ken and his little event last Saturday! We have a new volunteer here from Ireland who we actually did our VSO training with. He was posted to Eritrea but as their work permits never issued they all came home after one month. We heard about it through various BLOGs and here he is. So Ken offered to take him out and about on Saturday. After visiting the market and buying veg etc Ken was carrying his mobile as his bilum was full. [Bilum by the way means womb and originally they were made to carry new babies, which still happens with some Mums but everyone now uses for a shopping bag]. Suddenly a young man tried to grab it from him! Ken reacted exactly how we've been told not to!!!He tried to hit the lad and the mobile fell to the ground. John also tried and when he ran off the people around followed but no one caught him. I say thank goodness as they were have given him a beating. In the meantime all around him were full of concern for his well being. PMVs [mini buses] cars stopped to check he was alright! Apart from a little finger bruised, could have been broken, he was fine.
