Spent most our our first week since our orientation in the VSO office trying to read and understand all the different syllabi. The VSO Resource centre is very near home so we may just walk there in future to work.
Spent our first weekend on our own which has been great. Meals outside on our little table has been lovely although this morning it was too hot even at 8am. Had our fair share of rain this week but then you can't have green grass without it! Outside our room is my all time favourite tree, a jacaranda with lots of flowers. The girls constantly sweep the grass outside.
This weekend we have been to the market and the butchers which is also a supermarket where to be honest you can buy anything at a price! In the market I was able to buy pawpaw, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, ginger, herbs, onions, sweetcorn, yam, potatoes, cabbage, sweet potatoes, spring onions, peppers, oranges, bananas, pineapple, lemons, think that was all that was available and not very expensive. No bartering which makes life easier, even little price tags on card!
Went to a Lutheran Church this morning which was in English but a bit disappointing. There had been a very important funeral yesterday at the Church for the wife of the Governor. The cemetry is across the road and many people are still going to the grave to pay their respects.
Had dinner out on Friday and Missionary friends. Andrew and Ruth are coming over for a Chinese meal tonight.
So as you can see a very ordinary weekend! Lots of swimming and people watching as the hotel has been full for the University Graduation ceremony today.
