Day 8. 21 km 435m up. 415m down
Arrived Alberti Albergue in Los Argos at 3:40. 10 Euros very basic and none too clean.
Last night we walked about waiting for things to open Jean chatted to the toy train driver assisted by an enthusiastic English student and learned the restaurants were in the next plaza. We are much more adventurous together than I was on my own. Jean is indomitably cheerful and a great companion.
Today was a great day for walking. Low of 8 high of 17. Some sun but mostly overcast.
Last night I shared a cubicle with two lovely women from South Korea I was able to compliment them on the Winter Olympics and we smiled a lot laughed and commiserated when we bumped our head on the top bunks and got on well. They both snored mercilessly and the early pilgrims were up packing at 5:30am. So I was a grumpy pilgrim. We left at 7:30 had breakfast at a petrol station. Out of town by eight.
The walking seemed easy today. We made a good pace I slowed down on hills still but we went well on the flats and gentle hills. Kids going to school farmers tending crops and people getting back to post holiday mode. Hearing lots of cuckoos don’t remember that from last time do you Hugh?
Jean has had sore feet today and hopes to send Home a big package at eight tomorrow when the post office opens. It is cold in the room so we might head back to the main plaza for a meal.
There is no running of the bulls preparations going last time it was just over when I was here. Keep the messages coming I love reading them.
We are sitting in a restaurant/bar waiting to order a pilgrim menu. I fancy paella
