Day 46
A pre update
Bodhi Van Houten Perkins
Arrived 2:06 NZ time two weeks early but weighing an impressive 7 lb 10 oz
Mother and Baby both well. Pete and Kris did an amazing job especially Kris such a wonderful woman.
I am beside myself. Such good news.
Well what a racket this morning. Seemed to be mostly pilgrims getting an early start talking loudly in the hallway. I booked a pensione for some rest. Prohibited to eat in the rooms. Then a baskets of sweets on the bedside table which I did not touch. I went down and had Caldo Gallega a cabbage soup and signor asks if I wanted pan and then charged me for it. Ahhh the jaded pilgrim.
I walked well today but faded a bit as I came into Lavacolla. I seem to be much slower than the fresh pilgrims and I thought I was stronger and fitter. Humbling isn’t it. I got about ten minutes of light rain and then when I was tucked up in bed warming up and watching Roland Garros. Del Porto v Nadal. No spoilers here. Then the heavens really opened. Thunder and lightening at the same time. A first for me glad to be inside.
The country side is much the same as the last two days. Workers have been out scooping mud and laying gravel but there is a limit to what can be achieved.
Quite muddy in parts but definitely better than yesterday.
Dad has a full hip op Saturday Nz time. So I am thinking of that as well as the baby news. Hope the op goes well Dad and you get some relief.
Good bye on this the penultimate blog. R
