Day 31 Friday 25th. Heavy rain 15 low 9
14 km 190 up and 40 down. Some really good walking then alongside the road. Then the heavens opened. Last 4 km in pouring rain. Gently ascending so the track became a small stream.
Jean walked a few hundred metres with this morning and then we parted. Really felt odd not to be walking together. Singing out loud is just not the same. As I am writing this she will be on the train to Santiago de Compostella.
I had arranged to come to the same albergue as Lou and Tawna but somehow I passed them and there was more to than one albergue and the lady in the first directed me to the second. They arrived later but are in the first. We will probably catch up for a drink later.
My pack cover is not waterproof, my jacket and pants are not waterproof. My wet bag is waterproof. Everything that was wet through is washed and being dried by the hospiteleria. Hope nothing shrinks too badly. The challenge is that the weather is the same for the next 3-4 days with some steep climbs and descents. Sally Grimmet made particular mention of the area leading to El Acebo de San Miguel. I can’t get any new gear cos we are only going through small villages so as I have 3 days up my sleeve I may slow down til this passes.
But how to do that is a bit of a challenge. But what would a camino be without challenges??!!!
Just went and bought a large army green poncho. Maybe I can walk tomorrow without getting totally soaked. Haven’t caught up with the others yet and dinner is at 7:00.

Jeff Grimmett Hi Raewyn - we are walking with you in our heads. The next bit includes the Cruz de Ferro (about an hour or 2 past Foncebadon). Thats where you leave all you sins and grief behind - at the foot of the cross. Nice thing to be able to do - helps if the sun shines though. Jeff
