Jean and I spent yesterday in Paris. We are waiting in Bayonne for a train to take us to St Jean Pied de Porte.
Drizzly here but we can,t wait to start. jean got a blister walking around yesterday. there was a rail strike and we were sqished into a metro train. The low lights were Jean being mocked for accent Bercy is word in french to say.
but we shall forgive France that one because of all the kind people who helped us.
Highlights were a wonderful lunch in Montmartre roast goat cheese salad, beef bourgignan, and crepe suzette with a lovely house white. Also a visit to Musee Dorsay. superb.
We have just over an hour on the train then 7km and 700 m to climb to our first night in Orisson. If I survive i will add to the blog this evening.
After waiting for three hours we were then told no train and had to go by bus. Annoying as the train had not run for days and we could have shared a taxi with others and started earlier. ANZAC day we wore our poppies and chatted briefly with a couple of Aussies having an Anzac point in St Jean. Purchased our walking sticks and queued for our Pilgrim Passport. Getting a little anxious as it was after 2:30 before we started.
