Day 22 Wednesday 16 May
17 km 75m up 49m down H 20. L 7
Cool day but sunny and windy most of the day.
The cover photo is in the yard of our albergue having afternoon hot (well Luke warm really )lemon, cheese, little toasts, grapes and dates. Very delicious we don’t see why fine living needs to suffer. The plastic cup and jug were a bit of a compromise though.
Managed to snap my new green glasses and leave my hat in a drawer in a Hostal so had to go back when we were just on the outskirts of town. Jean stayed with the packs in the sun and tried to call Ken.
It was five or ten minutes later hat retrieved and new sunglasses with green lenses that we headed out just as 8:00 struck. We think they turn off the bells 10-8:00.
Walked alongside or on a minor road. More farm traffic than on other days ploughing being done in very stoney ground see photos. Tractors being moved. Some large prosperous looking farms without houses people seem to still live in the villages. The exception being earlier in the walk where small buildings are on small section maybe summer lodges to maintain the gardens.
We did not book ahead today intended going 23 kms but found a really nice municipal albergue 5E at 17 kms so decided to stop. Both of us are well and feet seem to be holding up well so here’s hoping it stays that way to the end. We spend a lot of time sunning, massaging and moisturing them but as that is quiet restful it is no problem really.
