Day 24. Friday 18th May
17kms 110 up 60 down.21 low 9 cold wind
A pleasant walk mostly on a path along a minor road.
We got underway about 8:00 another very pleasant night in a medium size town. The Hostal was great and served us a enormous meal of beef eggs chips and salad. Neither of us was able to eat it all. See photos.
A good walk of ten kms to a cafe in Bercianos de Real Camino. Coffee and pan chocolate 2,80 E. Then a 7 km walk to our minicipal albergue. Wooden bunks very creaky and I have a large man above me and a missing slat. Still I must not be neurotic. Jean promises if I am killed to come back with an NZ health and safety team and take them for everything.
This area has lots of straw and mud buildings. Lots of sheds and older derelict buildings and our albergue. The ones on concrete bases seem to last longest our albergue is mud to the bottom and some is falling away where it has been wet.
Our storms are back this village has several. I think they are awesome.
Met a nice Irish young man who has spent the last year in NZ. Two months on a dairy farm in Glenavy!! I know!! His name is Martin O’Malley. I know!!
Have developed a new blister on my lower heel which is irritating. Trying to get some sun on it now. 7:37 and mild. Still I have this new book Ken Follet’s Pillars of the Earth. Or at. Least I have 5/6 of a book. I remove pages as I read. The first rip was the hardest then like all acts of vandalism it gets easier. But really it weighed many 100grams.
Have a great day y’all as some Americans taught me to say.

Sally Grant Hi Raewyn and Jean. That's a meal and a half. I wondered why you had so many steps on the fitbit group Raewyn. I never seemed to get near you. No wonder. Have a great trip
