Day 38 Friday 1st June
17.5 km 355 up 585 down. Rain for first 4 hours. High 16 low 9
Left at 7:40 after a doughnut peach for breakfast. Walked off in the rain. Very poor visibility but no wind. The plastic poncho did a grand job. My synthetic walking shirt got wet but dried quickly. We had breakfasts couple of ks along the road. Every one was soaked and the eggs and bread was very welcome the cafe bar was putting out plates for 20. Peregrinos come in batches. I wonder what the collective name is.
By the second village people (Arnault) was saying conditions were treacherous and most people were getting taxis. But not us. And really conditions underfoot were pretty good. Spoke with Brit Andy and Hugh. Brit has a new baby niece. So cool.
We arrived at Triacastela at about three o’clock. Quite dry as the rain had stopped and we were able to remove our rain gear. Some muddy steep bits at the end which needed care. Really not able to appreciate the beautiful green tunnels made by the trees over the track.
I managed to avoid the old woman in the farm village with the crepes. She got me last time offering warm crepes then “asking” for donativo. Lou was happy to give her a Euro.
Lovely dog in the first stop with his head on the table watching the leftover bread. High remember the chickens everywhere missing this time because of the rain.
Have left my electrics back a village or two. Hope to catch up with it tomorrow. Lovely lady in the bar charged my phone so you dear people still get my blog.
The cover photo is my first Horreos a grain store very Galician.
Love Raewyn

Hugh Funny the things you remember - such as the woman with the crepes! Glad to hear you’re handling the terrain. I hope the weather continues to improve. Another glorious day in the Manawatu, cool mornings but bright sun. Glad the biking is finished with me and the bike unscathed! Love Hugh, Andy ‘n’ Brit.
