¡Hola! Day 27 - 21k - after a day of rest we cracked the 300k to go mark (288k to Santiago). Walked out of León on a cold sunny morning- my usual discomfort re:walking on concrete. The way was livened up when I started talking Spanish with a couple of 45yr old Señoritas (see pic) - after about 30 mins we reached the next pueblo and they bought me a Café Americano! I think it was a prize for trying so hard to speak their language! Then off on the alternate route to Mazarife- across wide open country with big clear blue sky, sometimes paddocks of yellow mustard flowers and The mountains still way in The distance. We are staying in an old "manor " house, renovated- Tío Pepe (Uncle Pepe). Visited a nice old church next door with 3 storks nests on the Bell tower - lit a candle for Alex. Had A nice talK About The church from a lady called Pilar Fernández- her English as bad as my Spanish - but in The end, with The help of a Spanish speaking Japanese, we all understood each other - was a triumph in International relations!! Hasta mañana!!
