Buenas! Been in Madrid 4 days - full on city this one!! Never sleeps. We have been staying at a hostel near the Centro - the action seems to go on 24/7. We are now in full tourist mode. Did the city bus tour, got our bearings, got The package deal on The Metro, done a lot of walking, ticked off The Prado Art Museum ( got lucky as was an entry free day), went to a bullfight (the one and only), adopted the siesta as essential survival technique and bought the T shirt. Much of the time in the evenings we have spent dining outdoors - last night with some of our Camino mates. Interesting culture seems to surround people you know from The walking - almost a tribal sense of connection. We always seem to make a special effort and be complétely accepting of these fellow pilgrims. It will be fascinating to see if it lasts. Nice parks here too - Jardín Botánico & the Parque Retiro, lots of buskers on the streets and in The Retiro today - got some good vídeo. This is a great city to visit but I think living here would be pretty stressful - they don't seem to go to sleep until about 2 in the morning! The lack of sleep would get rid of my personality very quickly!! So mañana en la mañana we are off (By train) to Toledo - apparently The whole Town a UNESCO World Heritage site. Hasta luego! ( When the locales say that all you get is "ta l-ago")
