Hola amigos - so today we stepped out on the real deal - Camino Frances. 1200 years of pilgrims all walking the same trail - I'm not used to that much historia. And who knows why? Not me - not even sure why we're doing it! The walk - OK but we can do plenty of walking in NZ. The Spanish inmersión - maybe but plenty of people walk this Camino speaking only English. The weather has been bad - as we were leaving SJPP we got big shots of lightning and The thunder rolled around The hills. It was like The Almighty was giving us a Welcome - impressive stuff, intimidating too. All this meant that we didn't walk the Napoleón route over The high road - too much rain, hail, low clouds. So here we are in Valcarlos - after walking an easy 12k up the low route = the valley - where Charlemagne's army rearguard got wiped out by the locales back in 778AD. Now we are looking forward to another night of snorers and you know whaters!! In the local Municipal Albergue. Hasta mañana.

Peter & Elaine McDermott Hi guys, loving this walk with you, I know its a virtual walk for us but I feel we are there with you. Without the aches and pains of course. News from home:- we're keeping the current flag 56% to 43%. Cheers Peter & Elaine
Jan I am so pleased to hear from you and interested in your reactions to various places. Good on you and the trip is for you both- I guess it will influence your thinking. Love to you both, Mum
Jeff Thanks Mum - pleased to hear you are into this blogging stuff. We are really enjoying The Spanish - people and language.
Leslie and Peter Hi from the unretired in Pennsylvania. Really enjoying your updates. Please keep them coming. Hope the weather improves and all goes well over the next few days.
Caroline Why not walk in Spain?! You both are amazing! Stay safe and healthy. Can't wait to hear more along the way. And thanks for including the bits of Spanish. I took an embarrassing amount of Spanish in grade school and college for the very little that I know now, but your words are slowly bringing it back! Thanks for waking up that part of my brain :-)
jeffandsal Hola a todos los Hickoks. Muchas gracias por sus mensajes. Nice to know you are keeping an eye on us and the best part is we will be seeing you soon
jeffandsal Hey McDermotts - Thanks for The flag news Peter - not surprised, people seemed to go off a change after the 1st round
