¡Que tal! Day 31- 5.5k = quiet day which allows us to spread the uphill a bit and suits the planned arrival date in Santiago. Beautiful sunny day, coolish in the shade, had a good lunch (beef stew and potatoes) and siesta is due. Seem to have run into a whole stack of new peregrinos, especially a big group of Bavarians!! So we hope they will speed on by.
Last night in Rabanal we went to church again - vespers - and this time a couple of Benedictine monks led the service - all singing (Gregorian chant?), all in Latin - monks dressed in black robes. And all this in a church that is about 800 years old - definitely the best show in town (population Rabanal = 60)). This was followed at 9.30 by a Peregrino blessing - Jeff's 8th (Sal had gone to bed by then!).
Tonight we are in Foncebadón population is only 20. Most of the old village is in ruins. All the good properties have something to do with the Camino - restaurants, bars, albergues etc. Will be a very quiet night tonight. Hasta mañana!
