¡Buenas! Day 32 - 11k over the top of the Galician Massif - said to be inhabited by elves and fairies. We saw none but we did stop at the Cruz de Ferro - finally made it!! (See pic). Yep - we left our stones on behalf of the Matthews (especially Bill), the Grimmett's (especially Rex), the Hays and last but certainly not least Alex Familton. It was quite overwhelming actually. We both felt very emotional, quite a few tears, so long/hard to get here and a lot of sadness, grief at this place - you could feel it. It was really just a power pole with a simple iron cross on the top. We stayed there a while and every now and then one or two peregrinos would walk up this pile of rock and place something at the foot of the Cruz and you could tell some were losing a burden and others were grieving deeply. It was powerful stuff. -And also a beautiful sunny day - we eventually left the Cruz de Ferro feeling this trip was worth it just for this alone - a real gut feeling of resolution. Why? No se! The rest of the walk was great - bowled along the tops - snow close-ish on the tops nearby, sun shining, cool and soon arrived at Acebo and a nice modern Albergue with good showers. Beer o'clock so we are off. Hasta mañana!!

Jeremy Matthews Thank you Dear Jeff and Sally. A moving and deeply appreciated little ceremony that left us both quiet and reflective...even from here. I told Ma, and shows her the picture. She went quiet too....quite unlike her!
jeffandsal Eh - nice to hear your Mum saw the pic, she was the one that started that part - and it has been so worth while. Please pass along our thanks.
