¡Buenas! Day 18 - a quiet one walking only 10k from Hontanas to Castrojeriz. We have been trying to slow down a bit - otherwise we'll get to Santiago too soon - 22 May is the preferred date). Castro means a hill- fort (see pic) - useless bit of trivia. The walk was all through a shallow Valley - below the alto plano (high plain) all around. First day I have walked without tape on the feet & ankles - was OK. Lot of fodder crops like lucerne and brassicas around - went past a sheep barn (smell and noise) and thought our sheep had a much better life outside. Spent a fun hour over lunch talking to Spanish Dad (Emilio) and his English daughter, Katie ( he married an English woman and lived on in England. This guy was a great spinner of yarns - good stories that only approximated the truth. Tomorrow we attack a fairly big hill = The reason we stayed here today. Nice dinner (steak and chips) at La Taberna esta noche y stretching exercises before bed. Hasta mañana.
