Buenos tardes! Day 9 - 18k,
(150k total at this stage).
Weather - cold westerly wind, broken clouds/sunshine - all the wet weather gear on to protect against the cold. The walk was through rolling country still, a little more of it on the asphalt road than we've had over the last few days. Saw my 1st ever gypsy couple plus horse, cart and dog on the road - los gitanos reales! They do exist!! Knocked off the 8k from Los Arcos to Torres del Rio, (pic is of approach to Torres del Rio - nice village on the top of a hill) cafe con leche and a croissant then back on the trail to Viana - 10k. Learning the Lord's Prayer in Spanish as I go - "Padre Nuestro que estás en el cielo......" It sounds very cool, at least inside my head. I admit I'm getting a few odd looks out there on the trail! Gem of the day? The paella Sal found for lunch here in Viana - very nice with lots of veggies and a glass of vino tinto. Then off to the Albergue Izar for a siesta. I could get right into this Spanish way of life. Meantime Sal is conquering the TrekRight app on the phone - so who knows what plan will emerge?? Hasta mañana
