Got organised early as we were booked in to go on the BA London Eye at 10:30am. Tried to catch tube from Lancaster Gate station only to find out Central Line was blocked by broken down train. We had to walk to nearby Paddington station and catch Circle Line to Baker Street station, then Bakerloo Line to Waterloo station.
Arrived at Waterloo station at 10:20am then waited in short queue to board the London Eye for our "flight". Great views of Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace.
Walked over Westminster Bridge to Big Ben and Houses of Parliament. Also visited Westminster Abbey. Then decided to take the 15 minute walk along St.James Park to Buckingham Palace.
Walked back to Westminster tube station and caught tube across to Tower Bridge tube station. Visited Tower of London. Started on guided tour with a Beefeater but it was too crowded so we went our own way. Great place to walk around, could have spent half the day here but we had to keep moving. We saw White Tower, Bloody Tower, Jewel Tower and Medieval Palace to name a few.
Walked around to Tower Bridge, really starting to tire as we had done a lot of walking and seen a lot of things. Went to the top of the Tower Bridge for views of the Thames and HMS Belfast. Walked to Tower Hill tube station and caught tube to Monument station before walking across to Bank station to catch tube back to Lancaster Gate and our hotel.
Ate dinner at 6pm at Bizzaro Ristorante in Craven Road, Paddington. Reasonably priced Italian food although staff were a bit abrupt. Walked on to Mitre Hotel for a pint before calling it a day.
